Twenty years ago, Doctor Amelia Wahnart made national and international headlines when she publicly accused her colleagues of “playing God” with immoral and dangerous experiments. She claimed her co-workers were looking into three main things;
1. What was it that made a person a “person”?

2. Was it possible to recreate that?

And 3. Once a person had died, could you reanimate that part of their brain and bring them back?

Doctor Wahnart expressed her concerns to their superiors, but they went unheard and it became apparent that the viruses that were being worked on were ordered from the higher ups. She remained silent on the matter for the next 12 months, watching and gathering intel on the studies being done, the viruses being made and the planned methods of testing.

When they moved onto human testing -often on homeless people taken from the streets and tested on without consent- Dr. Wahnart decided she could no longer stay silent and she finally took her accusations public.

However, the company she worked for shut her claims down, accused her of falsifying information to sully their name and the defamation led to her being discredited and the destruction of her career.

Afterwards, Dr. Wahnart disappeared from the public eye, becoming reclusive. The only tell-tale sign that the scientist was still somewhere out there were the “safe houses” that kept popping up all over the country. Each of these buildings were built to the same specifications; several floors, each serving a different purpose and essentially providing a large, comfortable living space designed to resemble a mix between a hotel and an apartment building and were enclosed inside a large, strong fence.

Conspiracy theorists and supporters of Dr. Wahnart came to the conclusion that the reclusive scientist had designed and commissioned the construction of what would be zombie proof buildings, supported by her past claims that there would eventually be an outbreak if her former colleagues were allowed to continue to play with life.
And guess what?

One of these buildings is your new home!

Two years after the initial outbreak, you find yourself living in one of Dr. Wahnart’s zombie proof hotels.

But supplies are starting to run out. They are going to start getting low and far quicker than anyone ever anticipated after two years of being in the zombie-filled wasteland. You’re going to need to start venturing beyond the fence and soon. Just remember above all else: don’t get bitten.

What Remains is an AU game set in a zombie apocalypse wasteland, an open concept with small plots and mainly driven by character interaction. Characters have spent the past two years surviving since the dead started walking and now find themselves in a new home. What they do next is up to them.
